D365 Business Central : New Company Badge in BC21

Company Badge is a great way to quickly identify the company that you are currently working with. The badge is helpful especially when you are working with multiple tabs and multiple companies at the same time. The badge is displayed on any pages and is very easy to identify.

Before BC21, you will see this as a rectangle on the top right corner. You can only use 4 characters on the badge.

The badge is configurable under Company Information page.

From BC21 (Business Central 2022 Wave2), the company badge changed slightly.

First, the length was increased from 4 to 6 characters.

The shape of the badge is changed. You can also see the environment indicator next to the badge.

Not only that, we now have two different badges depending on whether it is a sandbox or production environment. Production has a circle shape, while Sandbox has a square shape (square because it’s a sandBOX?).

However, On Premise only has the Sandbox shape and no environment indicator.

Small change, but definitely a nice improvement.
