It is possible to update your Business Central from Essential to Premium (or the other way around). Before you make the change in Business Central, make sure that all the users license are in Premium. You can’t have a mixed between Essential and Premium.

After you finish assigning all the users to Premium in Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, you need to update the license information in BC. Go to Users and click on Update users from Office 365.

You can check if the user license if you go the User Card.

After updating the user license information, it is time to enable the Premium experience.

Noted that you need to login as the tenant user when switching to Premium. You can’t change it if you are login in using your partner ID.

Go to Company Information, and click the assist edit button on the Experience field. Select Premium and click OK.

That’s it. Your BC environment is on Premium experience now.
