💡Adding new fields to Sales or Purchase documents is simple. However, you also need to consider whether users can edit those fields after the document is released.
A released Sales Order locks the document for processing.
Important fields, such as Shipment Method Code, stop being editable.
Use the TestStatusOpen procedure when you validate your new fields. It gives you a standard check on document status.
Why this matters:
✅ Avoid accidental changes to important order data.
✅ Protect workflow accuracy.
✅ Avoid inconsistent field behavior.
