D365 Business Central : Set Default User Group

When you get new users in Business Central, BC will automatically assign you the User Group automatically.

What if you want to change the default user group ?

There is no official way to do this, but there is a trick to do it in BC. The table responsible for it is Table 9007 – User Group Plan. BC assign the default user group based on the user license / plan (essential, premium, etc). Below is how it looks like when we look at the table. A Premium license will assign you “D365 BUS PREMIUM” and “EXCEL EXPORT ACTION” automatically.

To change this behavior, we can create Configuration Package to modify the table directly.

Export the package to excel, modify the field, and import it back using Configuration Package. Enjoy your new default user group.
